The New Orleans Music Teachers Association (NOMTA) was founded in 1905. It merged with the Metropolitan Music Teachers Association in 1996. Today it is affiliated with the Music Teachers National Association and the Louisiana Music Teachers Association.
NOMTA’s purposes are to stimulate its members to a greater efficiency in the teaching of music, to encourage and promote the cause of good music, and to cultivate harmony and good fellowship in the music-teaching profession.
